The Important Issues I Care About

I voted for SB 1947 a compromise reform that puts us closer than ever to fixing Illinois’ broken school funding formula, this spending bill increases education funding for our local schools. My support for this cause comes from the belief that as our children are entering an increasingly globalized economy…

Equal Pay

Equal pay throughout the workplace is something that I have always supported, I voted YES for the Equal Pay Act to all employers. The Equal Pay Act prohibits employers with four or more employees from paying unequal wages to men and women for doing the same or substantially similar work…

I strongly believe in infrastructure as a way of creating jobs and stimulating our economy, I believe in competition and innovation. That is why I brought to the 3rd District $7.3 Million to revamp the Haley Metra Station on Fullerton Ave., but there are other areas in need within our communities…

I support The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition’s Initiative, which is a plan calling for improved energy standards and jobs creation throughout Illinois; we expand the use of renewable energy and increases energy efficiency, resulting in new, green jobs. I support HB3538 because it would end…

As a supporter of H.R.5578 – Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act of 2016, this bill solely focused upon the statutory rights for sexual assault survivors. Sexual assault victims are given the right to have a rape kit preserved for 20 years or the maximum applicable statute of limitations at no cost…

The House Aging Committee has proposed cuts that would strip care from nearly 40,000 elderly residents and place them in a new, untested program. Senior advocates are expressing concerns about how this new program lacks the standards and requirements that…

Trust Act

I voted in support of SB 31, Trust Act, which prohibits the local police and federal immigration agents from complying with immigration detainers and warrants unless issued by a judge. The bills importance sends a message to Illinois’ immigrant residents that are seeking police assistance will not…

Women’s Health

In Illinois breast cancer is the leading cause to death among women. Early detection is the key of how the number of women with breast cancer can be reduced which will become vital in saving the lives of women universally.  Improving mammogram standards is a supported legislation of mine that will help empower and inform women about breast cancer.  I…

Why I’m running for re-election

“My job in Springfield is not yet completed, there is a lot of things we want to do in Springfield” “I am running for re-election for another term because I believe there are some issues that still need to be addressed.

I think we need a Democratic Governor because some of the issues that need to be addressed are not being funded, issues such as medical health issues (i.e. epilepsy, diabetes) and infrastructure. Another thing I am looking to do before I leave is established an infrastructure capital bill for the state of Illinois.”
